Classification of the Mediterranean lowland to submontane pine forest vegetation

چکیده
Aim: Vegetation types of Mediterranean thermophilous pine forests dominated by Pinus brutia, halepensis, pinaster and pinea were studied in various areas. However, a comprehensive formal vegetation classification these based on detailed data analysis has never been developed. Our aim is to provide the first broad-scale large set plots. Location: Southern Europe, North Africa, Levant, Anatolia, Crimea Caucasus. Methods: We prepared European forest selected 7,277 plots cold-sensitive species pinea. classified using TWINSPAN, interpreted ecologically biogeographically homogeneous TWINSPAN clusters as alliances, developed an expert system for automatic at class, order alliance levels. Results: described Pinetea halepensis new class lowland submontane forests, included existing Pinetalia order, distinguished 12 alliances native including four newly three informal groups merging supposedly stands old-established plantations. The main gradients composition reflect elevational belts west-east, partly north-south, biogeographical differences. Both temperature precipitation seasonality co-vary with gradients. Conclusions: levels all vegetation-plot data. This includes traditional syntaxa, which have critically revised, alliances. also outline methodological workflow that might be useful other syntheses. system, jointly dominance composition, tool applying this research nature conservation survey, monitoring management.

Vegetation Classification of Darabkola Forest and Their Relation to Physiographic Factors
This study focused on vegetation classification of Darabkola forest in the middle part of Hyrcanian forests in north of Iran. For this purpose, 139 releves were sampled using systematic- selective method in 400 m grid dimensions by the consideration of indicator stands concept. Based on modified TWINSPAN method and Braun-Blanquet phytosociological method, five associations (Parrotio persicae-Ca...
متن کاملThe importance of remnant native vegetation of Amazonian submontane forest for the conservation of lizards.
Forest fragmentation affects animal population dynamics mainly by loss of habitat and disruption of animal movement. Lizard assemblages are affected by environmental changes, but, depending on their ecological needs, some species might be more vulnerable than others. The southern Amazon suffers accelerated anthropic actions replacing natural environments by farmland (crops and pasture). This re...

متن کاملObject-based spatial classification of forest vegetation with IKONOS imagery
Object-based image analysis (OBIA) is employed to classify forest types, including deciduous, evergreen and mixed forests, in a U.S. National Park unit using very high spatial resolution (VHR) IKONOS satellite imagery. This research investigates the effect of scale on segmentation quality and object-based forest type classification. Average local variance and spatial autocorrelation analyses ar...
